Why do you need supplemental dental insurance in Germany?

If you have public health insurance, the dental coverage included is very limited. In many cases you will need to pay a significant portion of the costs for fillings, crowns or other treatments out of your own pocket. People are often surprised by just how little the public system covers when it comes to dental care.

A supplemental dental plan can cover between 70% and 100% of these costs, depending on the plan you choose. A small monthly premium can save you hundreds of euros when an unexpected treatment comes up.

What you need to know before signing up

The monthly premium depends on the plan and your age at the time of sign-up. In general, costs range between €18 and €35 per month. Fill in the form to receive a personalised quote and we will get back to you.

📄 Claiming reimbursement

Once your treatment is complete, you submit the dentist's invoice to the insurer. Reimbursement is usually processed within around 10 days, paid directly into your bank account.

📅 Contract duration

The contract runs for one year and can generally be cancelled on an annual basis.

Dental treatment in Germany can be expensive. Don't wait until something goes wrong — protect your dental health and your finances from day one. The sooner you sign up, the sooner you are covered.

Frequently asked questions about supplemental dental insurance

Are there waiting periods?

In most cases there are no waiting periods, meaning your coverage kicks in from the first day of your contract.

What are the requirements to sign up?

If you are currently in the middle of dental treatment when you apply, you will need to complete it before the policy can start. Treatments that have already been recommended by your dentist but not yet started are also excluded from coverage. The best time to sign up is when you have no ongoing or planned dental work.

Are implants or prosthetics covered for teeth I have already lost?

No. Teeth that are already missing when you take out the policy are excluded from coverage. The supplemental plan does not cover implants, crowns or bridges for teeth that were absent before the contract started.
